First post: Inspired: A Culinary Project
I'm often asked what I blog about. As when I first started this blog in 2007, I continue to post new recipes I've cooked, new ingredients I've tried, and new techniques I've learned. I don't always cook straight from other people's recipes; my everyday cooking usually involves me throwing something together from whatever is available in the house (from my "own" recipes). However, at least once a week, I like to try something new. That's my focus here. As I wrote in my first post, I started this blog because I needed "to have some goals, to try something new, to have an outlet for my stress & frustration, to feel creative, to do something worthwhile."
While I love that people are reading my blog and (hopefully) learning from my kitchen experiments, ultimately this blog is a personal endeavor, something that I do for myself. I've never claimed to be a trained chef or a culinary expert. I'm just a good cook who really loves food.
For me, cooking is a creative outlet, a cheap form of therapy, a learning experience, and a necessity for living the good life. So, let me live, love, EAT, & say it well in good sentences.
The title of my blog is a take off of a line from Walt Whitman's poem "Song of Myself":
I too am not a bit tamed, I too am untranslatable,
I sound my barbaric YAWP over the roofs of the world.
